Matty is currently in the post-production stages of his second feature documentary ‘The Road to Patagonia’. His short films have been seen around the world, while his first feature documentary exists in only one copy of a faded DVD that sails on an old Mahogany ship in the doldrums of the Indian Ocean – the few that have seen say they like it. It also won ‘Best Documentary’ in his Masters program at RMIT university.
He has lived across 5 continents and speaks mother-tongue English, fluent Indonesian, pretty good Spanish and fun-as-hell Mentawai.
An accomplished surf-explorer: he has lived and worked amongst remote shamanic communities of Indonesia; backpacked around the world; surfed big waves; surfed really cold waves; has a decade of experience surfing the Mentawai Islands; crossed the Australian continent via the Outback; rode a motorcycle from Alaska to Argentina; completed a 6-month independent horseback journey through Chile; and has surfed from Alaska to Patagonia – the length of the American Pacific coastline.
Currently based between Australia and Indonesia.
